OSCE-supported event promotes trust between police and society in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported public council meeting at the Ministry of Internal Affairs to discuss ways to enhance the level of trust between law enforcement and the public took place in Astana on 28 April 2017.
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the Head of the Committee of the Migration Service and the Head of the Administrative Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as well as some 35 members of law enforcement and some 30 representatives of civil society gathered to discuss ways to enhance channels of communication between the public and law enforcement as well as ways to promote crime prevention and community policing throughout the country.
A set of recommendations was drafted by participants that will be submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for consideration.
The event is part of the Office’s activities aimed at promoting community policing in the host country.
