A meeting of OSCE Mediterranean Points of Contact Network on Border Security and Management, organized by the Border Security and Management Unit of the OSCE Transnational Threats Department and the Spanish Policía Nacional concluded today. The Spanish National Police hosted this meeting in Madrid on 4 and 5 July and brought together high-level participants from the border and customs services of Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Morocco.

On June 27-29, a three-day regional meeting of 35 senior representatives of the border services from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan took place in Issyk-Kul province.

To support the vital work in maintaining the security of Tajikistan, its border troops have received protective, technical and transport equipment for use along the border with Afghanistan.

Countering emerging threats posed by the illicit trafficking of cultural property was the focus of a three-day national workshop, organized by the OSCE Transnational Threats Department, Border Security and Management Unit, in close co-ordination with national customs officials in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Twenty-five border officers of Tajikistan’s Border Troops enhanced their capacities on operation planning training course conducted by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe from 14 April to 3 May 2022 in Hamadoni district.

The OSCE Border Management Staff College (BMSC) concluded its 31st Staff Course on 18 March 2022 in a face-to-face format in Dushanbe.

The OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan handed over 200 devices for verifying travel document authenticity to the Border Service of the Committee for the National Security of Kazakhstan. The signing of the donation agreement was held on 13 December 2021 in Nur-Sultan. The Border Service will use the devices to identify forged travel documents during border control procedures in border crossing points across the country.
