EUBAM head addresses OSCE Permanent Council
The Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), Udo Burkholder, addressed the OSCE Permanent Council on 1 December 2011. He outlined the activities and future priority areas of EUBAM, whose mandate was recently extended for the third time into 2015.
Burkholder discussed OSCE and EUBAM coordination, as well as EUBAM’s work with Moldova and Ukraine to tackle international and cross-border crime, build capacity, implement integrated border management, border demarcation and visa liberalization, EUBAM’s contribution to confidence-building activities, and engaging civil society.
The OSCE Permanent Council is one of the main regular decision-making bodies of the Organization. It convenes weekly in Vienna to discuss developments in the OSCE area and to make appropriate decisions.
