President Efthymiou Statement on arrest of Goran Hadzic
COPENHAGEN, 20 July 2011 – OSCE PA President Petros Efthymiou today issued the following statement upon learning of arrest of the last UN-indicted Serbian war crimes suspect, Goran Hadzic.
“With Goran Hadzic’s arrest by Serbian security services, Serbia has fulfilled its legal and moral obligation and ensured its full co-operation with The Hague. Hadzic will now face long-standing charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. This is an important moment for the country and the region and we would like to commend those who have worked hard for years to bring all the suspects to justice. I particularly applaud President Boris Tadic and his government for this achievement. Serbia has proved its dedication to international law, is contributing to regional stability and reconciliation, and this ensures its prospects for European integration.”
