OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Severin visits Ukraine

COPENHAGEN, 7 March 2002 - From 11 to 13 March 2002, the President of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) Mr. Adrian Severin, MP (Romania) will pay an official visit to Ukraine. The purpose of the visit is to discuss recent developments in the OSCE area and OSCE involvement in the observation of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine.
During his visit Mr. Severin is expected to have meetings with the President of Ukraine, Mr. Leonid Kuchma, Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament (Rada), Mr. Ivan Pliusch, Prime Minister, Anatoliy Kinakh and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Anatoliy Zlenko. Mr. Severin will also have meetings with heads of Deputies' factions and groups as well as with members of the Ukranian Delegation to the OSCE PA.
In view of the leading role the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will play in the observation of the upcoming parliamentary elections, Mr. Severin will hold talks with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) On-site Co-ordinator, Ambassador Michael Wygand as well as with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mr. Mykhailo Ryabets.
