OSCE Parliamentary Assembly leaders meet President Putin
COPENHAGEN 14 May 2001
COPENHAGEN, 14 May 2001 - The President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Mr. Adrian Severin, and Vice-President Mrs. Rita Süssmuth paid a working visit to Moscow from 9 to 12 May 2001 at the invitation of the Speaker of the Russian Duma, Mr. Gennady Seleznev.
In addition to Speaker Gennady Seleznev, they met with the Chairman of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Evgeny Gusarov and Deputy Defence Minister Mr. Igor Puzanov.
OSCE PA President Adrian Severin and Vice-President Rita Süssmuth were also received at the Kremlin by the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin.
During these meetings the role of the OSCE in the modern world was discussed as well as the ways in which Members of Parliament can contribute to the further development of stability and democracy on the European continent.
