Parliamentary Assembly deplores Yugoslavia's refusal to allow the OSCE Chairman-in-Office to visit Montenegro
ST. PETERSBURG 8 July 1999
ST. PETERSBURG, 8 July 1999 - Helle Degn, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, currently meeting in St. Petersburg, deplores the refusal of the Belgrade authorities to allow the Chairman of the OSCE, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Norwegian Foreign Minister Knut Vollebaek, to visit Montenegro.
President Degn states: "This move shows that the Yugoslav Government has learned nothing from the events of recent months and that it perseveres along a path of confrontation which further isolates it from the rest of the world."
Mrs. Degn consequently urges the Yugoslav authorities to reconsider their position and allow Minister Vollebaek to visit Montenegro.
