OSCE Office in Tajikistan holds training course on gender action plans and gender responsive budgeting
A two-day training course on Gender Action Plans and gender responsive budgeting for women and men politicians concluded on 29 March 2017 at the OSCE Office in Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
“Gender mainstreaming sustainability depends on awareness, commitments and financial implications,” said Ambassador Tuula Yrjölä, Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan. “The OSCE Office in Tajikistan will further support the devotion of our counterparts to translating initiatives into practice towards achieving gender parity.”
The course brought together some 12 participants including women politicians active in seven official political parties in Tajikistan and members of the Men Engage platform of Tajikistan.
The goal of the advanced training course was to draft the Gender Action Plan for 2017-2018, the political parties’ second action plan for the promotion of gender equality across all the work of political parties on the central, regional and country levels, in alignment with the national and international framework on gender equality.
Vesna Ivanovikj-Castarede, Head of the OSCE Democratization Unit and the project leader, said: “With this training course we aimed at building understanding of gender responsive budgeting to ensure that the needs of both men and women are addressed in the management of financial resources for promoting gender equality.”
Special focus was put on gender responsive budgeting and effective prioritizing and planning of resources for supporting gender mainstreaming activities by the political parties.
