ODIHR provides expertise to Central Election Commission in Bosnia and Herzegovina
A team of experts from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) was in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 19 to 23 February 2018 to provide assistance to the Central Election Commission in following up on ODIHR electoral recommendations.
The expertise provided related to the drafting of regulations on the role of media in election campaigns, campaign finance, the work of polling station commissions, as well as candidate and voter registration. The Central Election Commission is expected to adopt several regulations on these topics ahead of the scheduled 2018 general elections.
All OSCE participating States have committed themselves to promptly following up on ODIHR’s election assessments and recommendations, and ODIHR has consistently supported the effective follow-up of recommendations. The visit was part of the project Support to Elections in the Western Balkans, which builds upon this work.
The project is funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency. The visit was co-ordinated with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
