International observers for Ukraine parliamentary elections to hold press conference in Kyiv on Monday

KYIV, 29 September 2007 - The International Election Observation Mission deployed to monitor the Ukrainian parliamentary elections on Sunday, 30 September, will announce its preliminary findings and conclusions at a press conference at 13:30 on Monday, 1 October, at the Ukrainian House of Teachers, Volodymyrska 57, in Kyiv.
The mission is a joint undertaking of the OSCE, comprising the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and NATO, and the European Parliament.
The statement will be delivered by PA Vice President Tone Tingsgaard, Special Co-ordinator of the OSCE short-term observers, together with Hanne Severinsen, the Head of the Council of Europe PA delegation, Jan Petersen, the Head of the NATO PA delegation, Adrian Severin, the Head of the European Parliament delegation, and Audrey Glover, the Head of the ODIHR long-term election observation mission.
The mission includes 58 long-term observers, deployed throughout Ukraine since early August, some 140 parliamentarians and some 570 short-term observers who will monitor activities on election day.
