The First Preparatory Meeting of the 31st OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum dedicated to “Enhancing security and stability in the OSCE region through digital innovation, contributing to sustainable development and climate adaptation” will take place in Vienna on 29 and 30 April 2024 and will focus on the following topics:
- Promoting policies in the fields of sustainable energy as well as trade and transport to improve the environmental footprint of the economy
- Advancing innovative policies and the use of new technologies to foster sustainable economic development and growth
- Strengthening efforts to foster good governance, transparency and accountability through combating-corruption and asset recovery
- Recognizing the potential for digital transformation, capacity building and human capital development in contributing to sustainable development
The First Preparatory Meeting of the 31st OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum is organized by Malta’s OSCE Chairpersonship 2024 and the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities.
The Economic and Environmental Forum is the main meeting-cycle within the Economic and Environmental Dimension of the OSCE. Its objectives are to identify needs and priorities, to raise awareness and to stimulate the political will of the 57 OSCE participating States in dealing with economic, environmental and security related challenges, to share best practices, as well as to provide a platform for dialogue with representatives of International Organizations, the business and academic communities, and civil society. In 2024, the First Preparatory Meeting will be followed by a Second Preparatory Meeting in Malta (Valletta), on 19-20 June 2024.
