OSCE Mission to Montenegro welcomes adoption of key legislation on elections of Councillors and Members of Parliament
PODGORICA, 9 September 2011 – The Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Šarunas Adomavičius, today transmitted his good wishes to the country's President, Speaker of Parliament, Prime Minister and Members of Parliament on the adoption of the Law on the Election of Councillors and Members of Parliament.
Adomavičius commended the efforts of all of those who had contributed to finalizing this key act and said: “The OSCE Mission welcomes the adoption of the Law on Elections, and trusts that the changes that have been adopted are in line with the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe”.
He added that the OSCE Mission had supported Montenegro from the outset of the work on harmonizing the Law with the Constitution in 2007, and assured the authorities of the OSCE’s continued support in the full implementation of the country’s reforms in line with OSCE principles and commitments.
