OSCE-supported play on domestic violence tours Moldovan regions
Telling the true stories of women who were victims of domestic violence, the documentary-style play Casa M. will tour Moldova’s regions from 15 to 31 July 2011 to help raise awareness of and prevent domestic violence.
“By staging real-life dramas and discussing them with the audience after each performance, Casa M. tells people that domestic violence is not a private family matter: it is a serious crime,” said Ambassador Philip Remler, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
Brochures, videos and other materials distributed at the performances contain information about a toll-free trust-line and other services available in Moldova for both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.
The theatre project is part of the Anti-Trafficking and Gender Programme of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. Casa M. was written by Luminita Ţâcu and directed by Mihai Fusu. The cast includes Mihaela Strâmbeanu, Snejana Puică, Ina Surdu and Irina Vacarciuc. Performances of the play were first held in Chisinau in autumn 2010.
