OSCE supports jazz concerts in Chisinau, Tiraspol and Balti
The 13th edition of the Ethno Jazz Festival, one of the largest cultural events in Moldova, took place on 25-28 September 2014 in Chisinau, Balti and Tiraspol, supported by the OSCE Mission to Moldova and other local and international partners.
For the first time, the Ethno Jazz Festival travelled to Balti, in the northern part of Moldova, with concerts from Moni & Red Carpet (Romania and Moldova), Grzegorz Karnas Quartet (Poland) and the Liberty band from Tiraspol.
Music enthusiasts from the left bank of the Dniester/Nistru River also had the opportunity to enjoy international band Jazz Kamikaze (Denmark, Norway and Sweden) and local group Liberty in the Palace of Culture of Tiraspol.
As part of the Festival, around 120 students of music from the Art Institute in Tiraspol and their teachers participated in a workshop conducted by the bands Indian Air and Ronin, with artists from Austria, Bulgaria and Switzerland.
The Ethno Jazz Festival has taken place annually in Moldova since 2001. With to the support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, the Festival has been able to expand to other towns on both sides of the Dniester/Nistru River, such as Comrat, Balti and Tiraspol. The project aims to build cultural bridges and promote positive attitudes towards cultural diversity.
