Head of OSCE Mission in Moldova meets representatives of Gagauzian People’s Assembly
CHISINAU, 11 February 2014 – A delegation of the Gagauzian People’s Assembly headed by Dmitry Konstatinov visited Chisinau today to meet with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Ambassador Jennifer Brush and other diplomatic missions to discuss the latest political developments in the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia, located in southern Moldova.
They discussed prospects for the better implementation of the Gagauz autonomy law and ways in which the OSCE could support this process. Brush specifically stressed the importance of working together with the central Government of Moldova and the regional authorities to assure that the Gagauz autonomy law is effectively implemented.
“The cultural diversity of Moldova is one of its greatest riches, and an effective implementation of the Gagauzian autonomy law will help to keep and embrace this diversity, ensuring that language and minority rights are respected,” said Brush.
The autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia was established in 1994 to protect and support the development of the Gagauz language and culture.
