OSCE Mission to Skopje
Migration
In response to the flood of migrants that have recently passed through the country, the Mission uses a victim-centred and human rights-based approach, and works with authorities to enhance the capacity of regular and border police to deal with refugees and migrants.
In migration flows along migration routes, it engages in efforts to combat trafficking of human beings, and works to increase the capacity of social workers to identify victims of trafficking. It also supports lawyers who provide legal aid for victims of trafficking and co-operates with the Anti-Trafficking Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the NGO Open Gate and La Strada to introduce a new approach to better assist refugees and migrants, and to identify potential victims of trafficking along Western Balkan migration routes.
