Legal framework and recommendations for the application of the principle of impunity for victims of trafficking in human beings in the Republic of Serbia

The application of the principle of impunity is an obligation of the state arising from ratified international documents, but also an approach to combating trafficking in human beings based on full protection and respect of the victims rights. Punishing victims of trafficking for crimes whose commitment is a direct consequence of their status, is contrary not only to international standards, but also to the principle of fairness. These Recommendations on Impunity contain the legal basis and framework for impunity for victims of trafficking in international law, the normative framework and challenges for the application of the principle of impunity in national legislation, as well as specific recommendations for police officers and public prosecutors. The publication is available inSerbian language.
