OSCE Mission to Montenegro trains state administration employees on anti-discrimination measures against persons with disabilities

A two-day training seminar on the prohibition of discrimination against persons with disabilities was organized for some 25 employees of the state administration by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro in co-operation with the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights on 5 and 6 October 2017 in Bečići.
The training covered how to apply regulatory mechanisms and the legal framework for respecting, protecting, promoting and fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities. It aimed to sensitize state administration employees to the issues faced by persons with disabilities.
In her opening remarks, the Deputy Minister for Human and Minority Rights, Blanka Radošević Marović, emphasized the ministry’s long-standing partnership with the OSCE Mission and highlighted the importance of enhancing the capacities of state employees in preventing discrimination. She said her Ministry was committed to "respecting the recommendations contained in the 'Analysis of the conformity of Montenegrin legislation with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability and the pertaining law’” and implementing the government’s 'Strategy on prohibition of discrimination against persons with disabilities and their equality with others' and the pertaining Action Plans’.
During the seminar, participants also heard from an expert at the University of Zagreb and representatives of local NGOs on topics such as European and national strategies for people with disabilities and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The training course was part of the Mission’s project on supporting human rights in Montenegro.
