OSCE Mission to Montenegro trains State Election Commission on Strategic Planning
The OSCE Mission to Montenegro organized a two-day workshop on strategic planning for some 15 members and service staff of the State Election Commission (SEC) on 28 and 29 September 2017 in Podgorica.
The aim of the workshop was to introduce the main steps for strategic planning and the importance of developing a multi-year plan for the central elections management body. The workshop will provide SEC with necessary tools and skills to set organizational goals and objectives for their future planning.
In his opening remarks, the President of the State Election Commission, Budimir Šaranović, emphasized the importance of the long-standing partnership with the OSCE Mission, and the importance of this type of training for the enhancement of the institutional capacity in charge of the election administration. “I thank the OSCE Mission as a key partner in providing technical expertise and assistance. I believe that introducing us with the topic of strategic planning is a key for our multi-year planning.”
The Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Maryse Daviet, highlighted the assistance which the OSCE provided so far and underscored Mission’s readiness to continue its support in the future. “Today’s workshop programme is highly relevant and I hope that it will help you in analyzing and understanding different situations, to consider various alternatives in order to reach key policy decisions and attain desired outcomes.”
This event is part of the Mission’s project on providing technical assistance to the country’s SEC and it is organized within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the SEC on 5 May 2016 with the aim to support the development of the Commission in line with international best practices to strengthen their capacities to administer elections.
