Border management

This effort has involved improving the ability of border police to detect forged or stolen personal identification and travel documents, as well as activities related to countering trafficking in human beings and cultural property. Support to improving border management also entails facilitation of inter-agency co-operation and the building of trust and confidence between the relevant actors.

The position of BiH on the migration route between Western Europe and the Middle East entails a high risk of human trafficking and other forms of cross-border organized crime. In response, the Mission has increased its assistance on implementation of the country’s Integrated Border Management Strategy, contributing to prevention of cross-border crime while facilitating legal trade and free movement and flow of people, goods, services and investment.
