OSCE Mission organizes employment fairs for vulnerable communities in Kosovo
The first in a series of employment fairs organized by the OSCE Mission for some 70 members of Kosovo Roma, Kosovo Ashkali and Kosovo Egyptian communities to enhance their employability concluded on 25 April 2018 in Roma Mahala, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica South.
Representatives of local and central-level government, regional employment centres, businesses, and NGOs were present with stands, delivered presentations on employmentprospects , and offered training and education opportunities for members of these communities.
“Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities have the highest unemployment rate in Kosovo compared to other communities,” said Nikola Petrovski of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. “By organizing these information sessions we are bringing employment and training opportunities closer to them, and we hope that such activities will help to economically empower the most vulnerable communities in Kosovo.”
Similar activities will also take place in Prizren on 2 May, Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje on 11 May, Ferizaj/Uroševac on 14 May and Gjakovë/Ðakovica on 15 May.
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with the protection and promotion of human and community rights, as well as with democratization and public safety sector development.
