OSCE Mission in Kosovo organizes high-level forum on language compliance
Prishtinë/Priština, 8 November 2017 – A forum on language compliance in Kosovo with the aim to raise awareness among local institutions about the importance of language rights will be organized by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo tomorrow.
Senior officials, including Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Deputy Prime Minister Dalibor Jevtić, Austrian Ambassador Gernot Pfandler (on behalf of the OSCE Chairmanship), Language Commissioner Slaviša Mladenović and OSCE Head of Mission Ambassador Jan Braathu will speak at the event. The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Ambassador Lamberto Zannier, will be the keynote speaker.
The forum will serve as a platform for representatives of bilingual or multilingual jurisdictions to share their experiences related to language rights. The main conclusions will be included in the Mission’s upcoming thematic report on bilingualism, which is aimed at improving the implementation of the law on languages.
