OSCE Mission trains law enforcement agencies in Kosovo on procurement fraud and corruption investigation

A training course on procurement fraud and investigating corruption organized by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo concluded on 19 October 2012 at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in Vushtrri/Vučitrn.

The two-week long course, attended by more than 20 investigators from the police, the Special Anti-Corruption Department, the customs office, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate and the Financial Intelligence Centre, focused on identifying loopholes in procurement and tender procedures, and investigating potential corrupt practices.

“Overseeing and investigating suspicious procurement activities are key to fighting and preventing corruption and organized crime,” said Naim Hoxha, the OSCE Mission’s adviser on combating organized crime. “With this training course we are building the capacities of a number of important agencies and we are helping improve their co-operation.”

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with human rights protection and promotion, democratization and security and public safety sector development.
