Head of OSCE Mission in Kosovo condemns shooting incident
PRISHTINË/PRIŠTINA, 7 September 2012 - The Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Werner Almhofer condemned today this morning’s attack on EULEX and Kosovo police vehicles in the village of Donje Verage/Varagë e Poshtme in northern Kosovo.
Shortly after 9:00 a group of masked persons opened fire on one Kosovo police and one EULEX vehicle injuring a police officer and damaging both vehicles.
“I strongly condemn this morning’s attack on Kosovo police and EULEX,” said Almhofer. “The perpetrators deliberately put lives in danger. I am relieved that no one was killed and I wish the injured police officer a speedy recovery.”
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with human rights protection and promotion, democratization and public safety sector development. It delivers advance police training and helps develop and implement public safety and community policing strategies.
