OSCE Mission in Kosovo helps fight corruption in procurement
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo organized a four-day training course for officials investigating procurement and tender procedures from 12 to 15 April 2011. Procurement activities are often related to corruption and organized crime, thus the control and investigation of procurement procedures helps in the fight against corruption.
Nineteen officials attended the training course, 17 of them police officers from the Directorate for Economic Crime and Corruption Investigation and Task Force against Corruption, and two analysts from the Financial Investigation Centres (FIC).
Some of the main topics covered during the training course were: European standards for procurement procedures, contract types, legal texts, financial and administrative violations according to European standards, procurement procedures and types, procurement procedures in Kosovo and special methods and tools for investigation.
Participants were able to enhance their skills and knowledge on investigating possible corruption and irregularities and on evidence gathering.
