Training on human rights protection in counter-terrorism operations

The training will be provided by the ODIHR human rights and anti-terrorism programme staff and will be attended by 16 investigators and operative officers from the Kosovo police and four EULEX (EU Rule of Law Mission) officers.
This training course will be attended by law enforcement officers. It will focus on human rights standards including the prohibition of torture and ill treatment, protection of life, detention conditions and rights to liberty, data protection, and limits to control.
The course was developed by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in 2005. It has since been delivered in 11 locations throughout the OSCE area.
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo has been monitoring police conduct for human rights compliance since the beginning of 2000.
