PRISTINA, 27 August 2002 - Kosovo's Election Complaints and Appeals sub-Commission has fined seven political entities for submitting certification applications after the deadline of 1 July 2002. This represents a violation of section 6 of the province's Electoral Rule 4/2002 on the Certification of Political Parties, Coalitions and Citizens' Initiatives. Kosovo will hold its second municipal elections on 26 October.
In setting the penalty, the Commission considered the degree of lateness and the number of municipalities involved. The decisions are final and may be not appealed to Kosovo's Central Election Commission.
