OSCE and US-based institute on ethnic relations organize roundtable in Kosovo

PRISTINA, 16 October 2001 (OSCE) - The OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the Project on Ethnic Relations are organizing a second round table to bring together Albanian, Serb and other ethnic community leaders. The Project on Ethnic Relations is an US-based independent institute with ten offices in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
The round table, which will take place in Pristina on 17 October at the OSCE Mission headquarters, is a follow up to a meeting that was held in Pristina in April, as well as regional roundtables organized by the Project on Ethnic Relations on Albanians and their neighbors held in Budapest and Athens in 2000.
This second round table will discuss the current political situation in Kosovo, the forthcoming elections, relations among the ethnic communities in the province, and the impact of other regional and world events in Kosovo.
The participants will include Ibrahim Rugova, Hashim Thaci, Ramush Haradinaj, Nebojsa Covic, Rada Trajkovic, Momcilo Trajkovic, Bishop Artemije, leaders of Kosovo's ethnic communities, as well as senior representatives of the international community in Kosovo. Dr. Allen Kassof, President of the Project on Ethnic Relations, will chair the meeting.
Although the round table itself is closed to the press, there will be a press conference following the meeting, at 18:00 hours at the OSCE headquarters in Pristina. During the first ten minutes of the roundtable, beginning at 9:30 hours, there will also will be an opportunity to take photos and record videos.
