Class 10 graduates from OSCE Kosovo Police Service School

PRISTINA, 16 November 2000 - The tenth class of police cadets graduates from the OSCE-run Kosovo Police Service School this Saturday, 18 November.
They bring to 2,539 the total number of trainee police officers who will have successfully graduated from the school's 8-week long basic training course since it opened last year.
Class 10 consists of 293 cadets of whom 40 are non-Albanian. A total of 52 of the group are women. The cadets will now go on to spend a further 19 weeks of in-service training with UNMiK Police and an additional 80 hours of classroom tuition provided by OSCE police instructors at regional training centres around Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the first specialized training course got underway on October 31st last. Sixteen serving KPS officers were selected to take part in the course which focuses on driving skills.
As part of its mandate, the OSCE is aiming to provide democratically-oriented basic police training for at least 4,000 locally recruited police officers.
