Kosovo polling centre list published
PRISTINA 13 October 2000
PRISTINA, 13 October 2000 - The list of Polling Centres where people will vote on election day has been published.
The majority of the 380 Polling Centres were previously used as Registration Centres during the Civil and Voter registration Process and are, therefore, locations which are already known to the voters.
In order to inform people about the location of their individual Polling Centre, posters - which tie the identification number on a Registration Receipt with a specfic Polling Centre - are going up all over Kosovo.
On election day, people will have to go to the same location where they originally registered. The only exception will be those who registered to vote outside of Kosovo and have since returned. They may vote at any Polling Centre.
In some cases, the original Registration Centre will have moved to another site. However, there will be signs redirecting voters to the Polling Centre location.
The Polling Centres will be sub-divided into a total of 1,464 Polling Stations, each of which will be able to cater for up to 700 voters. Notices, which will show the ranges of Registration Receipt numbers which will be dealt with at the Polling Stations, will be posted outside the Polling Centres on election day itself.
The Polling Stations will be open from 0700 hours until 1900 hours on Saturday 28 October.
The full list of Polling Centres by municipality is now available on the OSCE Mission in Kosovo website. It will also be published in the newspapers.
