Voters list in Kosovo ready for checking
PRISTINA 6 October 2000
PRISTINA, 6 October 2000 - Everyone eligible to vote in Kosovo's municipal elections this month will be able to check their entries on the Final Voters List (FVL) from next Monday, 9 October 2000.
The computerised lists will be available in one designated location in each municipality throughout Kosovo.
Each Quick Check Centre will not only have access to the Voters List for that municipality but also to the entire Final Voters List database, which contains entries for 901,000 successful registrants aged 18 or over from inside and outside Kosovo.
The entries contain each individual s polling station number, their name, date of birth and the municipality for which they are registered to vote. In addition to this information, the Final Voters List, which will be used on election day, will also contain their photograph to assist with identification.
Up until October 21st, the small group of eligible voters who can't find their names on the Final Voters List database will be able to apply to have their names put on Supplementary Voters Lists. These lists will be used on polling day to enable them to cast their vote.
During the Quick Check, there will also be forms available to enable people to correct any errors in names or dates of birth on their entry. These corrections will not appear on the Final Voters List but will be used by UN Civil Administration in the data correction process for the Civil Register, ID cards and Travel Documents.
At the Quick Check Centres, voters will also be able to get advice on what to do on polling day and confirm, for example, the location of their polling station.
Anyone who checked their entry during the earlier Confirmations, Additions and Challenges period and found it to be correct does not need to check it again.
