Kosovo Law Centre seminar on property issues
PRISTINA 4 October 2000
PRISTINA, 4 October 2000 - A seminar entitled Legal and Economic Aspects of the Transformation of Social Property and Privatization of Companies in Kosovo will be held on Friday 6 October, from 10.00 to 17.00, at the Economic Chamber of Kosova. The event is organized by the Kosovo Law Centre, in co-operation with the Economic Chamber of Kosova, the European Union and the World Bank.
The topic was chosen as positive reactions after Kosovo Law Centre's last seminar on property issues encouraged the Centre to deepen its focus on property and privatization related matters. Five experts, both local and international, will give presentations on socially owned companies, commercialization, models of privatization and private sector development. The seminar will conclude with a discussion between lecturers and representatives of socially owned enterprises. The Kosovo Law Centre will publish the lectures and discussions.
The goal of the Kosovo Law Centre is to cultivate the professional skills of local legal talent within the centre in order to establish a professional, locally run, independent and sustainable NGO that embodies and promotes democratic principles, multiculturalism, high ethical standards, the rule of law and respect for human rights. The tasks include legal research and analysis; publishing and distribution of laws, decrees, and other legal materials; establishing a library; organizing law-related seminars; capacity building for local legal organizations; and providing other forms of technical and material assistance to the legal community.
Media are welcome to observe the proceedings.
