Clothing displayed to help identify human remains in Kosovo
PRISTINA 7 August 2000
PRISTINA, 7 August 2000 - As part of its work with the recently-established Victim Recovery and Identifiction Commission, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, in conjunction with members of the Advisory Board from the Local War Crimes Commissions of Pristina and Kosovo Polje/Fushe Kosovo, will be holding an exposition of clothing recovered from unidentified victims exhumed this year from Dragadon cemetery.
The exposition, which contains more than 150 sets of clothing and pictures of personal effects, will take place between Wednesday 9 August and Sunday 13 August at the the former Bread Factory, now known as BBC warehouse No. 3. The exposition will be open to relatives and friends of missing people from 09:00 to 13:00 on those days, but not to members of the media, in order to respect the deceased and their families.
Media representatives are invited to view the artifacts on Tuesday, 8 August. It is hoped the media will help inform those who may be able to identify the owners of the clothing of the importance of attending the exposition. Members of the Local War Crimes Commissions as well as OSCE human rights staff will be on hand to explain the procedures involved.
A media briefing will take place between 15:30 and 16:30 on 8 August.
