OSCE Mission’s campaign promotes new human rights legislation in Kosovo
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo launched an information campaign on 11 November 2016 to promote the package of laws on human rights.
The package includes the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Protection from Discrimination, and the Law on Ombudsperson - all of which regulate key human rights aspects.
The Mission aims to use the campaign to inform the general public in Kosovo about the rights and new elements included in the package, as well as the resources available to exercise those rights.
“The three laws are an important means to ensuring human rights and equality for all and address discrimination on any grounds, such as ethnicity, religion, language, age, and gender,” said Ambassador Jan Braathu, Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. “Being able to enjoy and exercise one’s rights freely and equally is one of the basic tenets of democracy both internationally and in Kosovo.”
The campaign includes leaflets, posters and TV spots in Albanian and Serbian, which will be aired on Kosovo-wide TV stations over the next two weeks.
The Mission provided advice to institutions in Kosovo in preparing these laws, and this campaign aims to help both promote the laws and support their implementation.
