OSCE Kosovo Mission Head visits public service broadcaster, broadcast regulator
On 18 and 19 March 2015, the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger, visited the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) and the Independent Media Commission (IMC) and met with the representatives of the executive bodies of those two media institutions.
During these visits, Ambassador Schlumberger was informed about the most important activities of the RTK and IMC in the past, as well as their plans for the future.
“It is crucial for both institutions to maintain financial independence, editorial integrity and independence from external interests as important principles of their existence,” said Ambassador Schlumberger speaking about the work of the Public Service Broadcaster and the broadcast regulator.
Schlumberger underlined the Mission’s commitment to support the development of the media sector in Kosovo. “We will continue to work with the media institutions to help them apply the most advanced standards in the public broadcasting sector and in the field of media regulation. Only sustainable and fully-fledged media outlets and media institutions can fulfil their functions effectively,” he said.
