OSCE promotes tolerance among young people from different communities in Kosovo
In an effort to strengthen inter-ethnic and inter-religious tolerance and understanding, from 5 to 27 November 2014, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo organized three study visits to cultural and religious sites for high school students from Dragash/Dragaš and Prizren municipalities.
The participants included more than 60 students from different communities in Kosovo as well as students from the Serbian Orthodox Church Seminary in Prizren, who normally would not have a chance to interact.
They visited Prizren’s Hamam, Sinan Pasha Mosque, the Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. George and Kalaja Fortress, as well as Ulpiana archaeological site, the Tomb of Sultan Murat, and Visoki Dečani Monastery.
At these sites they had an opportunity to learn about each other’s religious and cultural heritage, and to overcome any misconceptions they had about one another.
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with human and community rights protection and promotion, democratization, and public safety sector development.
