Freedom and Responsibility Yearbook now available
VIENNA, 4 April 2001 - The annual Yearbook 2000/2001 Freedom and Responsibility was presented by Freimut Duve, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, on 4 April 2001 at the Hofburg. The yearbook includes contributions from several prominent authors from the Caucasus, a number of articles on investigating corruption.
Among those who appear in the yearbook are such well-known intellectuals like Fazil Iskander, Georgi Nijaradze, Levon Mkrtchjan and Larisa Kislinskaya. One of the writers Ramzan Aidamirov, a school teacher from Grozny in Chechnya, wrote about the difficulties of trying to re-establish a relatively normal life for his school children. His contribution is a poignant reminder of the horrors war brings to all civilians, especially children.
The yearbook also provides a forum for the staff members of the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media to discuss their personal accounts on working in defence of freedom of the media.
A comprehensive work list of all the activities of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media is also provided as well as a directory of media non-governmental organizations in the region.
This is the third yearbook published by the Representative and it will be available on the OSCE website at: www.osce.org/fom.
