The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović, will attend an event marking the 20th World Press Freedom Day in San Jose, Costa Rica. On 3 May, the world will celebrate the 20th anniversary of World Press Freedom Day — a day to stand up for freedom of expression and the safety of journalists across print, broadcast and online media.
The theme for 2013 is “Safe to Speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media”, which focuses on the safety of journalists, the issue of impunity, and online safety. There is also a special focus on the implementation of the UN Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
