Gender equality

The Mission works with political parties to improve gender equality principles in their policies and programmes, as well as to increase women’s meaningful political participation.

The Mission also works to combat gender-based violence by working with law enforcement agencies and institutions in raising their capacities and improving their co-ordination, with the broad aim of supporting the development of long-term solutions to this social problem. This includes tracking criminal justice proceedings related to gender-based violence.

Data collection on gender-based violence is a special focus of the Mission, both by measuring the prevalence of violence against women and girls, and through providing support to authorities in establishing co-ordinated systems of administrative data collection.
