Chairman-in-Office congratulates Viktor Yushchenko on election as President of Ukraine

LJUBLJANA, 11 January 2005 - The OSCE's new Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, has sent his congratulations and best wishes to Viktor Yushchenko, who was yesterday declared the winner of the repeat election for President of the Republic of Ukraine.
In a letter sent following the delayed announcement by the Ukrainian Central Election Commission, Minister Rupel wrote: "Please accept my sincere congratulations and best wishes for further success in the fulfilment of your duties, as well as for your personal health and well-being."
The Minister also thanked Viktor Yushchenko for interrupting a Christmas holiday in western Ukraine to receive him during his first official visit as OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
"I see my visit to Ukraine and the discussions as very fruitful and successful. I am confident that we will continue to develop and deepen our good co-operation, which will contribute to the further strengthening of the already excellent, friendly, and good relations."
The Chairman-in-Office also extended his best wishes for the all-round progress of the country and of all its people.
