SOFIA, 9 September 2004 - In a telephone conversation, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy, and the South Ossetian Leader, Eduard Kokoity, discussed the situation in South Ossetia as well as the possibilities for the continuation of the negotiation process with the active co-operation of the Bulgarian OSCE Chairmanship.
Passy and Kokoity expressed their confidence that a resolution to the conflict could only be found by peaceful means, through dialogue between the South Ossetian and the Georgian sides.
Eduard Kokoity expressed his gratitude to Solomon Passy for the heartfelt compassion he expressed for the loss of the South Ossetian leader's relatives in the terrorist act in Beslan.
