OSCE Permanent Council Chairman meets Albanian opposition leaders
VIENNA 26 March 2004
VIENNA, 26 March 2004 - The Chairman of the OSCE Permanent Council, Ambassador Ivo Petrov of Bulgaria, and several OSCE ambassadors met Albanian opposition leaders in Vienna on 24 March.
The ambassadors exchanged views on a number of current issues in Albania and the OSCE region with Albanian Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha and Republican Party leader Fatmir Mediu.
The OSCE ambassadors expressed their belief in the need for a bi-partisan approach by the Albanian government and opposition in tackling the country's problems. They said the democratic process requires that political groupings should seek power only through elections and not through pressure from the street.
