OSCE adopts new scale of contributions
VIENNA 12 April 2002
VIENNA, 12 April 2002 - The OSCE Permanent Council has adopted a revised standard scale of contributions, which defines for the coming three years how much each of the 55 participating States annually pays for the Organization.
"This revision of the Standard Scale of Contributions is a major achievement for the Organization, as the structure of the Helsinki Scale has remained largely unchanged since 1973", said Ambassador Joao de Lima Pimentel, the Chairman of the Permanent Council. "This is an important step toward a fairer distribution of the shares carried by the participating States".
The revision of the scale of contributions also allowed for the adoption of the 2002 Unified Budget of the OSCE, which had been delayed since the beginning of 2002.
