OSCE Chairman-in-Office welcomes invitation to observe Slovak election

WARSAW, 20 August 1998 - The Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, welcomes the decision of the Slovak Government to invite observers from all the OSCE participating States to observe the parliamentary elections, scheduled for September 25-26, 1998.
Mr. Geremek has appointed Ms. Helle Degn of Denmark, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as his Representative for the Election in Slovakia.
Ms. Degn will be present in Slovakia during the election and will issue the preliminary post-election statement for the OSCE Election Observation Mission, in conjunction with the Head of the ODIHR Election Observation Mission, Mr. Kåre Vollan.
