OSCE Chairman-in-Office concerned with irregularities in Armenian election

WARSAW, 23 March 1998 - The following statement was issued by the Polish Chairmanship of the OSCE from Warsaw today:
The Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, is concerned with the irregularities in the electoral process during the 16 March extraordinary presidential elections in Armenia, as reported by the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission.
The Chairman-in-Office calls on the Armenian authorities to undertake all necessary measures to ensure that the second round of elections, to be held on 30 March 1998, is carried out in accordance with OSCE standards.
