ODIHR Director's mandate extended

BRUSSELS, 28 February 2006 - OSCE Chairman-in-Office Karel De Gucht, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belgium, has welcomed the decision of the Ministerial Council to extend the mandate of the Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Ambassador Christian Strohal.
Minister De Gucht underlined the important contribution of Ambassador Strohal and his office in the fields of election observation, democratic development, human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination, and rule of law in the OSCE area.
"I look forward to continuing the fruitful co-operation with the ODIHR and Ambassador Strohal," Minister De Gucht said.
Minister De Gucht underlined the important contribution of Ambassador Strohal and his office in the fields of election observation, democratic development, human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination, and rule of law in the OSCE area.
