OSCE Centre holds training course on drafting anti-corruption legislation in Kyrgyzstan
ISSYK-KUL, Kyrgyzstan, 22 November 2004 - Enhancing the professional skills of officials involved in drafting legislation on good governance and combating corruption is the aim of a training course taking place from 22 to 26 November 2004 in Issyk-Kul.
The event, organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, will focus on legislative theory and methodology, effective implementation of laws, legislation on good governance and international comparative law.
International experts from Lithuania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the United States will share their experience and anti-corruption legislation.
"Enacting proper legislation is an instrument for the government to eliminate corrupt behaviors in society," said Asim Acikel of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
"It is important to identify the gaps in legislation and work out mechanisms for implementing existing anti-corruption laws," said Kuban Omuraliev, Head of the Secretariat of the Consultative Council on Good Governance.
The training course is being carried out in line with the Action Plan of the Secretariat, which was approved by the Kyrgyz President.
