OSCE to hold workshop for women entrepreneurs in rural Kyrgyzstan
BISHKEK 28 January 2004
BISHKEK, 28 January 2004 - A workshop to encourage women to start small businesses in rural areas will open tomorrow in Kyrgyzstan. The two-day event, organised by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek in co-operation with the Women's Congress, will take place in the Shokopov district and is expected to be attended by more than 40 participants from different rural areas of this Central Asian State.
"The improvement of conditions for women to start and run a business and their active participation in the economic and social life are of key priority to the development of the country," said Ambassador Markus Muller, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
The workshop aims at promoting and fostering women entrepreneurs and assisting the process of economic revitalization and job creation in the rural regions. The topics to be covered at the workshop will include introducing basic elements of entrepreneurial thinking, the key theoretical knowledge and practical skills on business plan development, and business ethics.
The workshop will also provide information on the availability of credit resources from both international and Kyrgyz institutions engaged in micro-finance activities for entrepreneurs, particularly in the regions, on accessible credits, mechanisms to distribute and collateralize loans, and business support services.
