OSCE Centre helps publish register of lawyers in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, 11 June 2008 - A register of lawyers in Kyrgyzstan was published today by the Justice Ministry and the Lawyers Union of Kyrgyzstan, with the support of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.

"The register will create and strengthen links between those who need legal assistance and those who can provide it. We hope that it will help Kyrgyz citizens find information about lawyers, in particular those who provide legal aid free of charge, in an easy and timely manner," said Ambassador Andrew Tesoriere, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.

The register, available in Kyrgyz and Russian, contains information about lawyers working in Kyrgyzstan, including their area of expertise, professional experience, and contacts. It also includes information on lawyers and attorneys who provide services free of charge. Data was provided by the lawyers' associations and practicing lawyers.
