Economic information centre to promote investment in southern Kyrgzystan
OSH, 26 July 2006 - To help three provinces in southern Kyrgyzstan attract foreign and domestic investors, a new Economic Information Dissemination Centre has opened its doors today, established by the OSCE's Osh Field Office.
The new centre, which was set up in co-operation with the Osh Provincial Administration and the local business association, Turan Gyldizi, has already developed its own website (www.eidc.kg). The site provides visitors with reliable and up-to-date information on investment opportunities, market research and regional analysis.
The Centre will also offer business consulting services and boasts a library that is open to everyone interested in studying the business environment or analyzing the investment situation in southern Kyrgyzstan.
The province's Governor, Gantoro Satibaldiev, highlighted the main economic priorities of his province, and emphasized how important domestic and foreign investment was for the economic development of the southern region.
"This region does not receive enough attention as an attractive investment location," Jerome Bouyjou, Head of the OSCE's Osh Field Office, said at the opening ceremony of the new EIDC.
"The Centre will play a crucial role in promoting the region to potential investors. It will have the capacity for a thorough analysis of the investment potential and it will provide much-needed consulting services for business in the region", he added.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the governors of neighbouring Batken and Jalalabat provinces.
